Sunless Tanner

After years of orange sunless tanners gone wrong and patchy embarrassing streaks, I wanted to share my holy grail of a find sunless tanner! I also am sharing some of the products I’m currently obsessing over to prep my skin before tanning that I think you will love too!

There are affiliate links in this blog post. If you do choose to purchase any of these items through the links below, know that it does support me through a small commission and I SO appreciate the support! It allows me to keep bringing you quality and helpful content. Because of that, I only share products I honestly have tried and love.

Let’s talk about self tanners! Your girl is pale and I’m trying to be kinder to my skin and stay out of the tanning beds. I have used this self tanner for over 3 years now and hands down it beats every other self tanning product I’ve tried. And it’s in such a good price range!

Ladies, allow me to introduce to you the holy grail of self tanners – St. Moriz Dark Mousse.

Now the trick to this is you have to get the mousse. They have medium shade as well, but honestly I’m pretty pale and can get away with the dark shade…go big or go home right?! No? You can always try the medium shade as well.

The perks:

  • Easy to apply
  • Guide color so you can see exactly where you are applying the product
  • Forgiving application
  • Much safer for your skin than tanning beds
  • Doesn’t smell bad (disclaimer: let me just say I actually like the smell of tanning solutions, so to me I don’t mind the smell, but just know it does have a slight smell until you rinse it off after the initial application).
  • Lasts about 5 – 6 days

Now before you get to the actual application, here is how I recommend to prep your skin.

  1. Shave in the shower with a good shaving gel. I like the Skintimate Signature Scents Island Berry Womens Shave Gel.

2. Use a good exfoliator I recommend the Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub. My favorite smell is the Moroccan Rose.

3. Once you are out of the shower, moisturize your body to repair the skin and get it ready for a smooth application of the self tanner. Any lotion will work, but after a good exfoliation I like to bust out my nice high-end body butter such as the Coconut Body Butter by The Body Shop.

4. Apply with a tanning mitt. I’m not over exaggerating when I say that using a tanning mitt has completely changed my self-tanning life! It gives a way smoother application while saving your hands from becoming overly orange and crazy creases between your knuckles.

And thats it! To recap:

  1. Shave
  2. Exfoliate
  3. Moisturize
  4. Apply Self Tanner with mitt
  5. Wait about 8 hours and then rinse. I usually just sleep with it on and then rinse off in the morning. I advise to avoid lots of sweating or anything where you will get your tan wet until after you are able to rinse it off.

In the summer time I apply the tanner between 1 – 2 times per week to keep up my summer glow. I would LOVE to hear if you tried any of these products and your thoughts. Leave me a comment if you have ever tried any of these or if you love them as much as I do!

Talk soon,

Michelle
